Camera Strap
Whether it is the family backpacking through the woods or the reckless professional out on safari, one image that’s constant about just about any photographer is the camera attached to the neck attached to a strap. Camera straps come in all shapes and sizes and when you’re looking for a camera strap, there are a few things to consider:

• Where are you going to be using your strap? Is this strap for your old Polaroid on the beach? Or is this camera strap going to be used on a high powered Pentax digital in the White House press room, taking pictures for the AP? Will this strap be used by a rollicking teenager? Or an elderly couple? Time and place dictate a great deal in your camera strap selection. Which leads into:


• What type of camera will this camera strap be used for? If you’re buying a camera and strap for a beginner and they’ll just be taking it around to school to shoot for the Middle School Chronicle, you’d probably do a little differently than if you were out with a team of Eskimo’s, tracking their toboggan sledding across the Artic.

These are all things you need to think about. As a rule though, camera straps tend to be very basic. The best camera strap, again, depends on your needs. What and where and when are all things to consider before purchasing your strap. Might you need a double reinforced leather neck strap to carry your hundreds of pounds of equipment? Or might you be fine with a black, nylon adjustable?

Discounted neck straps for your camera can be found online. I wonder, but I bet no, but I wonder if there will EVER be a shortage of camera neck straps in the world. If their absence from the market would drive up costs and spike demand. Somehow I just can’t imagine that ever happening.

So I say that while there are deals out there to be had, they’re most likely found in the most obvious of places. No need to get stressed out about your camera strap shopping. There’s more than enough for everyone to go around!
