Camera Memory Cards
Camera memory cards are a necessary evil of the digital photography event. In fact, camera memory cards are often overlooked. Understanding and applying the correct mixture to your brew is important as ever; you should probably understand digital memory and types and fashion before you even set money down for that new camera. Because leaving for vacation or wedding; graduation or birth with a camera full of memory that’s no good for your equipment is like leaving the house on an empty tank. The car may look great outside but it can only look so good, sputtering in the driveway. |

The first thing you should understand is that card that came with your camera is probably junk. Yeah, it came with it and yeah it says it’s rechargeable, but you need to make sure you’re not relying on one little piece for the much larger puzzle.
You need to understand your mega pixel count and how that applies to your memory card. You also should understand that as camera types shift, you’ll need to keep up. The digital camera world is not a static thing and camera memory cards will always be changing, morphing, and growing so it’s a good idea to know what you’ve bought and also how it’s changing. Fortunately the information is out there. Whether it be online or from your camera manufacturer, the info is there for the taking, so take it! You can also get great stuff fro the retail store. It’s often information just passed along in passing from one feckless employee to an unsuspecting that sparks a journey of camera discovery loved by all. In general, there is no hard and fast number of pics you can take on any one card due to all sorts of things like compression, image file types, and content. You shouldn’t save all images on a single card; switching out during a shoot protects and enhances the data you’re storing. Understanding memory cards is as important as understanding your camera. You’ve got o know how much you can handle; when you need to refill; and when to stop, drop the current card, and roll into your local retailer to pick up a new one. |
