Camera Lenses
There is, I’m sure, a lot of discussion among the camera makers of the world, debating who makes the best cameras. Of course! Just listen to their adverts: “Unlike Any Other” “Without compare!” “In its own class!” the euphemisms are tiring; why not just say it; you’re the best! You’re better than anyone! There’s no disputing it!

While the same bravado could be argued for camera lenses, there is some grey area. You don’t typically hear all that much about the camera makers raving over their own lenses. Because, the best lens maker may not be a camera maker at all.

Pentax, Nikon, and Canon among others, are three camera makers that feature lens making as part of their repartee. But it’s like the overworked college student who has too much going on at once and can’t find any real calling; he’s either got to focus on his major classes, focus on the classes which are most difficult, focus on work, his crazy family, or he’s got to refocus.

So refocus he will and he just like the camera makers, has got to advance his own bottom line to the extreme. So where will their time and energies best be spent? Flailing over and over, trying to beat home the idea that they’re the best at everything? Or focusing in on what you’re good at; what brings you name recognition, and going with that?

With dozens of lens types and wide zoom lens, standard zoom lens, telephoto zoom lens, wide lenses, macro lenses, tele lenses, and something called DC Lenses for Digital SLR, one website definitely stands out. This site features pictures, diagrams, charts; it talks about not only lenses but lens accessories, teleconverters, and lens charts. It even has a link to “cameras” hinting that they may in fact produce cameras in some capacity, but never-mind that. The best website for camera lenses goes, hands down to the Sigma camera lens website. A beautifully lain, easy to understand, and totally focused on lenses site; with images, no doubt all taken with Sigma lenses, this site delivers the goods.

The choice, in lenses, is clear. It is not from one of the many “pop-popular” camera makers, but in fact from another.
