Camera Batteries
Camera companies used to make their cameras incompatible with “regular” batteries. Some still do. So when you’re shopping for your camera battery you may have a lot of choices, or not so many choices at all. Most units in this day and age are all powered by double A or triple A batteries that you can get in any drugstore. But with the emergence f digital technology, there are some caveats you should be wary of. Many camera batteries, as I said, are or can be your standard Duracell or Energizer; even the generic store brand will work. But the recent rise of digital technology has camera companies scrambling for their research and development guys to tell them how to make their cameras incompatible again. A place I never thought we’d have to go back to. |

Sony makes its own brand of battery for some of its digital cameras. You often need a guide to get through this maze, so if you need help, just ask! Even the kid in the beanie at the retail store counter should be able to answer your questions about camera batteries. Even if not, he should be able to get you the right help you need.
Kodak makes batteries; just like Duracell and Energizer. But it also makes camera batteries for some of its digital cameras. You need to check your manual on the camera that you got to see if it requires special attention. Canon also has camera batteries that are exclusive to its own lines. Canon digital camera batteries are specifically designed for each digital camera brand and model. Blueshape batteries are built for broadcasting news cameras. They are waterproof, fire resistant; some conditions even require a Lithium Polymer battery. Blueshape batteries are also chargeable and charge faster than other brand batteries. When discussing camera batteries, it’s important to remember one thing: your camera is your camera; your brand is your brand. But power is universal. There is no jurisdiction over that. So while you can control what you put into your cameras, you shouldn’t try and control the way we operate your camera once it’s in our possession. |
